Sign Amendments

The Design Review Board is in the process of reviewing the Village’s sign regulations and considering amendments that would include ways to streamline the sign permitting process for businesses.

The Commission has started its review by studying the Village’s window sign requirements and guidelines. Over the past months, the Board has been considering possible changes. On Tuesday, July 28, 2022, at 7 PM in Village Hall’s Council Chambers, the Board will continue its discussion of proposed window sign amendments, a copy of which can be found on this document:  June 28, 2022, Design Review Board Meeting - Draft Window Sign Regulations & Guidelines Amendments (PDF)

Currently, all permanent window signs require a sign permit and approval by the Design Review Board.  Under the proposed amendments, all permanent window signs would still require a permit; however:

  • certain types of window signs would be approved in an expedited fashion administratively by Village staff; and
  • signs that do not meet the criteria for administrative approval by Village staff would still need to be reviewed and approved by the Design Review Board.
