On Wednesday, July 13, the Village hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Stormwater Management project on Little Duke field in a ceremony attended by Illinois Representative Robyn Gabel, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, Illinois State Senator Laura Fine, as well as representatives from New Trier Township High School District 203, Winnetka Public Schools District 36, the Winnetka Park District. Village President Chris Rintz, Village Trustees and key staff broke symbolic ground on the entire project, which will span several years.

A remedy for flooding concerns that have impacted resident for decades, the Stormwater Management project will build stormwater improvements underneath Duke Childs and Little Duke Fields, above ground storage on the Par 3 and 18 hold golf courses and the Cook County Forest Preserves, and underground storage near Crow Island Woods. Stormwater conveyance will also be constructed underneath several Village streets. More information on the project's specifics can be found in our Spring Winnetka Report
