Join the Discussion on the Use of Plantings on Village Parkways

The Environmental and Forestry Commission (EFC) will devote its next 4 monthly meetings to preparation of recommendations to the Village Council regarding plantings on Village parkways that will yield positive benefits for the Village, while maintaining consistency with neighborhood aesthetics and not interfering with Village utilities, snow removal, or pedestrian, biker, or motor vehicle safety. It is the EFC’s intention to focus each meeting on a specific topic in the following order:

  • 1/13: preferred plantings
  • 2/10: experience of other local communities
  • 3/10: pertinent Winnetka ordinances
  • 4/14: prepare a summary to be delivered to Council

Background for these sessions can be found by watching the Village Council Study Session on 12/8 or reading the EFC’s agenda packet for its 1/13 meeting, which should be available on 1/8. The EFC’s virtual meetings can be attended with the Zoom URL and ID number provided in the EFC agenda packet, which will be available for downloaded from the Village's agenda center.
