Overnight Parking Permission
Overnight parking is prohibited between 2 AM and 6 AM on all village streets. When temporary, extraordinary circumstances require a vehicle be parked on the street overnight, you may submit your parking permission request online. Parking permission is limited to three days per request and twelve requests per year. Requests for daytime parking permission, permission in excess of three days, or for oversized vehicles must be made by calling the police non-emergency number at 847-501-6034. Entry into the parking portal does not mean permission is granted. If there are questions about your request or your request is denied, you will be contacted at the phone number provided in your entry. Failure to leave proper contact information will result in denial of your request. Parking permission is never given for fire lanes, timed zones, loading zones, or on certain streets where parking is prohibited.
Smart911
Smart911 is a free service that allows individuals and businesses to sign up for notifications to be sent via email, text, or voice message from the village, county, and state authorities. This alert system will help the Village and first responders communicate real time information on situations involving emergencies, weather, traffic, and other critical incident information. Registration for Smart911 is required.
Individuals who create a safety profile will be better prepared in all towns and counties across the country that support Smart911. The safety profile travels with you and the additional information provided allows us to send the right response teams more quickly. Please note: to maintain your registration, this system requires you verify that your contact information is up-to-date every 6 months.
Security Survey
How good are the locks on your doors and windows? Does your shrubbery hide doorways or windows? Is your outdoor lighting adequate to discourage a would-be burglar from targeting your home?
The Winnetka Police Department Crime Prevention Unit offers free security surveys to assist you with answering these questions. Upon request, an officer will conduct a survey of your home and make recommendations on how to make the building more secure and reduce the opportunity of becoming the victim of a crime. For more information or to schedule a survey, please contact Sergeant Marcin Beskur at 847-716-3404.
