Food Trucks

For residents, businesses, and food truck proprietors interested in the presence of a food truck in Winnetka, the Village’s guidelines are below. You may download a food truck permit (PDF) here. You may upload your food truck permit here, along with a certificate of liability insurance, and it will be processed after receipt of the $15.00 fee.

Public events

Public events on public property, including a food truck proprietor’s visit to the Village while parking on a Village street or in public parking spaces, require a food truck permit.

Public events on private property, in which members of the public may purchase and consume a food truck’s products, require a food truck permit.

If a food truck is part of a special event, like the Winnetka Music Festival or the Children’s Fair, a food truck permit is required. A Special Event Permit is required for any event held on public or private property that affects the ordinary use of public streets, rights-of-way, or sidewalks, or requires the extraordinary use of Village personnel, equipment, or property, as defined in Section 5.66.020 of the Winnetka Village Code

Private events

Private events on private property, in which only guests of an event consume a food truck’s products, do not require a food truck permit.

Private events in which only guests of an event consume a food truck’s products on public property, including Village streets, parking spaces, and sidewalks, do require a food truck permit

Block parties, defined as the closure of one block for a private event for residents of that block, do not require a food truck permit.
