Post Office Site Redevelopment

On December 16, 2025, the Village Council approved a contract with Teska Associates, Inc., to perform public engagement and prepare site planning concepts for future development of the site.

The contracted scope of work builds upon the Village’s previous planning studies with site planning metrics, economic analyses, zoning assessments and illustrative renderings. A strategic engagement program is scoped to invite review and feedback and includes a community input poll, focus group meetings, community open house and online engagement activity, and Council presentation. The outcomes of this planning and engagement effort include 4 preliminary concepts, a summary of community feedback, recommendations for 1-2 site plan concepts and Council direction for staff to proceed with a preferred concept(s).

The public engagement effort will kick-off early in 2026 and the process is expected to conclude by fall of 2026.

The contract with Teska follows the October 14, 2025, Village Council Study Session, where the Village Council reviewed the background of previous discussions about redevelopment of the Chestnut Street post office site in the West Elm Business District, provided direction for demolition of the existing building and restoration options, and provided direction about consulting for additional design services.
